Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known in the media as Ashanti was born on 13 October the 13th of October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York United States. Ashanti is a United States singer, songwriter, and actress. Ashanti became famous as a teenager. In 2002, she signed with Murder Inc. Records. The same year she also appeared in Fat Joe's What's Luv? And Fat Joe's What's Lulv? The moment she dropped her single,"What's Luv in the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at #1 with Foolish as her first single, she was the only female to achieve this feat. Tina Douglas her mother is a former dance teacher and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father was a vocalist in the past. The oldest of the three is she has a Kenashia Shia who's her older sister. Douglas was named Ashanti Shia Douglas to honor the Ashanti Empire of Ghana in which women ruled the roost and were highly influential. Douglas wanted Ashantis to follow this example.
